Trade Mission Request: Capt. Gunnar of The Canonsmoke

Post  Ao on Tue Sep 22, 2015 10:24 pm

The Canonsmoke is setting sail for Luskan, and I have a buyer for Elutrel glass in Ratstown. Customs in Baldur's is tight on glassgoods...they'll charge a 35-point tariff on exports. And, they've overvalued the stock by at least 10 points. Can The Kraken's Fist assist?

Captain Gunnar projects that he can sell them for 2 gold a unit (proj.revenue 500 gold pieces)

The Baldurian customs office is expecting a 35 point tariff, and they've valuated the stock at 550 gold pieces.  (customs expects 192 gold in tariffs)

Captain Gunnar's cut is 20 points (gunnar expects 100 gold pieces)

500 Projected Rev.
-192 tariffs
-100 trade fees
--------
208 expected revenue

Approach:

1) Exercise connections with the Baldur's Gate political landscape to allow a (X? - make something up) exception for exporting the goods. (D100 roll, +10 for Baldur's Gate political influence)

2) Use one of your connections to improve the situation? (use a D100 roll, plus their influence). I will modify the roll based on how plausible it seems.

3) Veto Gunnar's request, and give the contract to someone else in the future.

The Kraken's fist will assist.

It seems that the cargo of glass has been drastically over estimated. The glass is clearly low grade salvage and not the genuine Elutrel article.

There's a bright side, such low grade salvage will demand a much lower trarrif at 5 points we expect.

Cost adjuster Brandt will assist you once you make portBaulder's Gate.

500 Projected Rev.
-25 tariffs
-100 trade fees
------
325 expected revenue

We take it on good authority that even salvage glass can we made to shine with the right combination of Vinegar and mealed corn (starch), or so we hear.

** Artimus and the Fist reaches out to Samburus minister of The Dockmaster's Guild (10 influence) in an effort to lower the tariff on glass trade, with the justification that it is choking the rebuilding effort of Esmelteran as a wedge issue.

1d20 glass disguise 15+ ?
1d20 + 10 influence to lower the general tariffs 63+10 = 73 !

Artimus, captain Gunnar here. We just cleared port in Baulder's. Samburus himself came out and waved away the excise officers, declaring the tariff presently illegal and under revision. The poor bastards - they'll have hell to pay this eve, when they report to the tax collector general. Well executed, Kraken's Fist. I'll have the trade notes writ with the exchequer guild, after I reach Luskan.

Thank you.

+325 gold to The Kraken's Fist
+5 influence with Captain Gunnar
